Our founder, Tigist Awoke, brings over 15 years of experience across data engineering, enterprise architecture, AI, and technology governance, with a professional background spanning global institutions including the World Bank, International Monetary Fund (IMF), and United Nations.
Her path into technology is also rooted in science. Tigist holds an Associate in Chemistry, where her early work combined analytical chemistry and computing. While working in a research laboratory, she supported scientific research involving Gas Chromatography–Mass Spectrometry (GC-MS) and developed a C++ application to automate Kovats retention index calculations, replacing a time-consuming manual process used by researchers and PhD students. That early experience—using software to solve a real scientific problem—helped shape the interdisciplinary approach that continues to define Awoke Technologies today.
Tigist also holds a Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science and a Master’s degree in Information Systems (MBA), along with advanced certification in AI and Machine Learning from MIT and professional credentials in PRINCE2, ITIL, Cisco technologies, GIS, and Data Strategy.
